I have a few notebooks and I found that to conserve the Battery and extend the life of the battery the following works great.
If you are like me and have the notebook pluged into the power pack most of the time and say 80 to 90% of the time it sets on my desk and goes with me only on occasions when I travel. I recomend the following.
- Unplug the power pack and use the Notebook to bring the battery down to between 45-50%
- Plug the power pack back in and remove the battery. Store in a dry cool place and when you plan on going out charge the battery before you go.
Doing this will extend the life of the battery which under normal use only lasts between 3-4 years.
Never let the battery run below 25% as this is very hard on it and shortens the life. That is called a deep discharge and it shortens the life of the battery. Dont leave the battery with 100% charge because it does get warm and the Li-ion batteries do not like heat. It will kill the batteries fast.
Hope this helps some users out there...
